Challenge
History UnErased is dedicated to bringing LGBTQ+ history into classrooms and communities in ways that are accurate, human, and deeply personal. As the organization prepared a powerful live theatrical performance connected to its Seven Generations initiative and The Past is Always Present curriculum, there was an opportunity to preserve not only the event itself, but also the voices, reactions, and reflections surrounding it.
The challenge was to capture the emotional immediacy of the experience in a way that could extend beyond one performance and become part of a lasting educational time capsule.
Capture
With our studio kit onsite, Geminai captured cast perspectives, audience reflections, and personal responses connected to the inaugural performance of the original play, Your Hands are the Road, creating a collection of authentic first-person voices that could help carry the meaning of the work forward.
The content was designed to preserve more than documentation. It captured feeling, context, identity, and lived experience, the kinds of human details that help history become real, relatable, and memorable.
Experience
Through Geminai’s holographic storytelling platform, these voices can be experienced in a more personal and immersive way, allowing future audiences to engage with the people and perspectives behind the work.
Rather than simply reading about LGBTQ+ history or watching a recording, viewers can encounter stories with presence, emotion, and humanity, helping educators, students, and communities connect across generations.
Impact
The project demonstrated how holographic storytelling can help preserve cultural memory, elevate historically marginalized voices, and transform live moments into enduring educational resources.
