Challenge
As communities across the country prepared to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, Time Travel Theatrical was performing My Dearest Friend, a historical production portraying John and Abigail Adams through the letters they wrote to one another.
The challenge was to create complementary content that could extend the spirit of the performance beyond the stage and show how historical storytelling can become more immediate, personal, and accessible through emerging technology.
Capture
Geminai welcomed actors from Time Travel Theatrical into its studio in full costume to capture original holographic content inspired by the production.
The actors brought John and Abigail Adams to life through period dress, performance, and voice, creating a unique opportunity to blend theatrical interpretation with immersive technology. Geminai appreciated the organization’s willingness to collaborate on content that celebrated history in a fresh and engaging way.
Experience
The resulting holographic content was shared through social media over the July 4th holiday, offering audiences a timely and memorable way to engage with the words, relationship, and legacy of John and Abigail Adams.
By presenting historical figures with a sense of presence and performance, the content demonstrated how holograms can transform traditional interpretation into a more engaging experience for modern audiences.
Impact
This use case demonstrated how holographic storytelling can be used effectively by museums, historic sites, cultural organizations, and theatrical groups to make history feel more immediate and human.
For Time Travel Theatrical, the project extended the reach of a live performance while showing how immersive media can support public history, educational programming, anniversary celebrations, and visitor engagement.
