Challenge
The Boston Globe Tech Innovation Summit brings together hundreds of attendees, journalists, business leaders, innovators, and technology professionals for a day of conversation about the future of innovation.
For an event centered on emerging technology, the challenge was to create an experience that felt fresh, relevant, and engaging from the moment attendees arrived, while also supporting welcome messaging, wayfinding, and the energy of a high-profile summit.
Capture
Geminai created holograms of Boston Globe Senior Assistant Business Editor Andy Rosen, who welcomed attendees to the summit, shared why he values engaging with people at the event, reflected on what he learns from those conversations, and provided light wayfinding for guests.
The content was designed to be useful, personal, and aligned with the tone of the event, giving attendees a recognizable Globe voice as they entered the space.
Experience
As hundreds of attendees arrived, Andy’s hologram was displayed on the full-sized unit as a tech-forward welcome experience that immediately signaled the innovative nature of the summit.
During the reception at the end of the day, Geminai also welcomed comedian Howie Mandel and Proto founder and Chairman David Nussbaum by live beam from Van Nuys, California. Appearing live as holograms, they spoke with journalists and summit participants in real time (and even found themselves explaining that they were not AI!)
Impact
The activation demonstrated how holographic storytelling and live beam technology can elevate conferences, summits, media events, and receptions by creating moments of presence, surprise, and conversation.
For the Boston Globe Tech Innovation Summit, Geminai helped deliver an experience that was both practical and memorable, welcoming attendees, supporting event flow, and giving participants a firsthand look at how holographic communication can make remote presence feel immediate, human, and engaging.
